About Helpoon
Helpoon.com is written primarily by me, Fernando Montalvo. I was diagnosed with cancer back in June 2007 and I am a cancer survivor. Although I blog about other subjects too, such as aviation (velozia.com) and gardening (gardenipedia.com), it dawned on me I wanted to do a little more and help other persons that may be going through the difficult processes of cancer diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. While undergoing chemotherapy, I remember coming up with many questions regarding what I was going through. While cancer websites abound, sometimes the answers we need can only come from others who have undergone treatment. Sometimes our questions are not so easy for a doctor or nurse to answer. Other times, our questions may seem simple or weird, but other cancer patients understand what you’re going through. Helpoon.com is meant as a place where everyone can come together and share their experiences. And hey… you don’t have to be a cancer patient to post here. We welcome doctors, nurses, patients, family members, and well… everyone to take part in this blog.
For now, Helpoon will be a pretty basic website, but I am working on making it a one-stop source for information for all of you out there that need advice. I’m always looking for ways to improve the site.
Of course, at Helpoon.com, I will consult with experts in the field when the subject matter demands it and their opinion will also be posted for you. So, ask away…and get helpooned!
Helpoon.com gives advice by everyday people. It is not meant to be a substitute for expert help and all readers should consult a medical professional or related professional in the subject’s respective field. We are not responsible for your actions in regards to the advice in these pages.
